We are sure that you are wondering why we chose to put a cow on the inside of our Save-the-Date cards, on the Groom's cake, on the website, pretty much everywhere... What do we have to do with cows?? Actually, you could probably guess - and it's really silly:
It all started in the beginning of the relationship. In a very short time, Ben already knew that there was something special about his relationship with Jenny, that there was the potential that she could be his life partner. Eventually he shared this with her and Jenny was cautious about her response.
While she felt excited about the prospect, she wanted to protect the both of them from rushing too fast and damaging something that could be so wonderful. In order to explain to Ben that she wasn't yet ready to commit to forever, Jenny tried to make an analogy. Thinking about the old saying where marriage is concerned, "Why would a man buy the cow if he's getting the milk for free?", the first thing that popped into her head was to tell Ben that she just wasn't yet ready to give him "The Whole Cow".
Ben ran with it and told her that he was happy with the parts of the cow that she had given him, and he could see the whole cow out there in the field and that he would wait patiently for the "cow to come home" to him. It became such an inside joke for us that we have almost become obsessed with buying stuffed cows for each other, drawing cows and even talking in "moo" to each other! Really, it's disgusting...
When Jenny said yes to Ben's proposal, he indeed got "The Whole Cow". He has never regretted buying the cow to this day.
